Is blue cheese mouldy?Kind of… the blue vein is created using a bacteria called penicillium roqueforti, It is a used as a starter culture in blue cheese. It doesn’t pose any health risk in cheese and won’t make you ill.
-
Where does your cheese come from?We work with artisan cheese distributors and a network of small dairies across the UK to bring you a broad selection of the best quality cheese from across the UK and Ireland.
-
How should I store my cheese? We recommend storing your cheese in the fridge using a Tupperware box with a lid. A damp cloth will also stop your cheese drying out. Take it out around an hour before you intend to eat it to allow your cheese to come to room temperature. Many of the flavours in cheese are masked by cold temperatures and so taking it out of the fridge an hour or so earlier will bring out some of those lovely unique flavours and can also enhance the texture. For semi-soft or brie type cheese, they will start to run and go gooey the longer you leave them out; DEEELISH!
-
How long will the cheese last? All the cheese is individually labelled with a best before date and this varies depending on the type of cheese.
-
What do I do with the packaging?Unless stated otherwise, the box and stuffing are biodegradable, but don’t just throw it away as the boxes come in handy for re-gifting and the stuffing can be used again. We try to minimise the use of single use plastic where we can however some items may come prepacked to maintain freshness and quality.
